2011-2012 Massachusetts Flu Vaccination Reimbursement Program for Public Providers

On behalf of the Department of Public Health, UMass Medical School's Commonwealth Medicine division is working with both public and private health plans to provide reimbursement for the administration of seasonal flu vaccine in public settings.

Commonwealth Medicine will electronically bill participating health care plans. Cities and towns will be reimbursed for the cost of administering the flu vaccine to individuals ages six months and older. In addition, health plans have agreed to provide reimbursement for the cost of the influenza vaccine for individuals ages 19 and older.

The goal of this initiative is to increase access to the seasonal influenza vaccine in public clinics while providing financial support to public providers.

How Cities and Towns Can Participate

Public providers have the option to contract with Commonwealth Medicine to provide billing services. For cities and towns to receive payment, they must submit a University of Massachusetts Substitute W-9 Form (Form UMW-9) to Commonwealth Medicine, located to the left under Documents and Forms. Please feel free to contact us with any questions regarding the contracting process.
