SECURING THE FUTURE: Report of the Massachusetts Long-Term Care Financing Advisory Committee

The Massachusetts Long-Term Care Financing Committee has released its report, Securing the Future, recommending bold reforms to the ways families and the Commonwealth pay for long-term care services and supports. Senior staff from UMass Medical School's Center for Health Law and Economics established the overall framework for the work of the Committee.

The Committee was convened in January 2009 by the Massachusetts Executive Offices of Health and Human Services (EOHHS) and Elder Affairs (EOEA). Throughout this 18-month process, senior staff from the Center for Health Law and Economics provided significant research and analysis to support the Committee’s vision of universal access to basic financial protection for Massachusetts residents with long-term services and supports needs. The Committee’s goal was to identify strategic options for the future financing of care for elders and individuals with disabilities in Massachusetts.

The final report includes a suggested ten-year phased-in roadmap.
