Patti Onorato is responsible for all the operational and enabling functions of the organization, including IT, facilities, and marketing and communications. She also has oversight of the Office of Clinical Affairs within MassHealth.
Onorato began her career at UMass Medical School in 2003, as a Senior Nursing Consultant in the UMass Correctional Health Program; she was promoted to Associate Program Director, Nursing and Patient Services, just months later. Appointed Executive Director of UMass Correctional Health and Criminal Justice in January 2005, Onorato led the financial turnaround of the program's Massachusetts state contract while also ensuring access to and quality of clinical care. In addition to setting high standards for this large, complex service delivery program, she expanded health services coordination for inmates at the Federal Medical Center Devens while maintaining a high level of responsiveness to client needs.
Prior to joining Commonwealth Medicine, Onorato served as Vice President of Women and Children's Services and Associate Chief Nursing Officer at UMass Memorial Medical Center.
Onorato holds a master's of science degree in nursing from the UMass Medical School Graduate School of Nursing, with specialization as an adult care nurse practitioner. At Boston College, she earned a bachelor's of arts degree in English literature and a bachelor's of science degree in nursing. She has been an Instructor in UMass Medical School's Graduate School of Nursing since 1998.
