Dr. Brian Bjoern uses his vast knowledge in the area of clinical quality improvement and patient safety to help practices improve care by assisting in the development and delivery of transformation strategies, methodologies and teaching efforts.
Before joining Commonwealth Medicine, Dr. Bjoern consulted with health care leaders in Denmark on their improvement projects and published best practices focusing on the area of quality improvement.
As the director of the Danish Society for Patient Safety, Dr. Bjoern led the charge in a national collaborative to improve the quality of mental health care. Previously, he served as a faculty member for the Danish Safer Hospital Program and as an assistant medical officer for the National Board of Health in Denmark. As regional patient safety officer for the Capital Region of Denmark, Dr. Bjoern educated healthcare professionals and administrative hospital staff on patient safety principles and theory. At the University of Copenhagen in Denmark, he taught health care organization, health policy and quality improvement methodologies to medical students.
Dr. Bjoern earned his medical degree at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark, where he is also certified in public health by the National Board of Health.
