Julie Forgione joined UMass Medical School in 1999 as Associate Director of Benefit Coordination and Subrogation. In that capacity, she managed third-party liability activities, which contributed more than $2 billion in cost savings to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts annually. She was team leader in the area of subrogation and member service recoveries for Medicare, commercial health and casualty insurance, and estate recovery, also on behalf of the state of Massachusetts.
She currently oversees all cross-organizational activities to ensure organizational excellence and integrity, while supporting the business unit’s goals and values through team building. She serves as a client manager to the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services, and manages the contracts unit at the center.
Before joining UMass Medical School, Ms. Forgione served as Director of Third-Party Liability Subrogation Activities for the Massachusetts Division of Medical Assistance. During her tenure, she managed several programs and multimillion dollar contracts, achieving more than $1 billion in savings by guiding the policy and operations of benefit coordination activities.
Ms. Forgione has more than 32 years experience in health and human services, as well as program management. She has a strong background in health care financing, specifically in benefit coordination, recovery, and social work.
Ms. Forgione earned a bachelor’s degree in social welfare from Salem State College.
