Paul L. Jeffrey is an executive leader in the Office of Clinical Affairs, the MassHealth clinical decision support unit that is staffed by UMass Medical School. In this role, Dr. Jeffrey provides broad support to MassHealth and sister agencies within the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services on matters related to pharmacy. He is responsible for the clinical, operational, and financial components of the state’s pharmacy benefit for approximately 850,000 members of MassHealth. Dr. Jeffrey has introduced innovative programs involving opioids and pain management, as well as behavioral and mental health.
Nationally known for his writing, presentations and education sessions on opioid abuse, Dr. Jeffrey sat on Gov. Charlie Baker's Massachusetts Opioid Drug Formulary Commission and was a member of Gov. Deval Patrick’s Opiate Emergency Task Force. He serves as Massachusetts chair of the Eastern Medicaid Pharmacy Administrators Association and is chair of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy’s Professional Practice Committee.
Prior to joining UMass Medical School, Jeffrey served as Director of Pharmacy at Boston Medical Center and Associate Director of Pharmacy at the University of Maryland Medical System.
Dr. Jeffrey received his PharmD and BS in pharmacy from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy.
