Rosemarie Bonaventura oversees statewide financial and operational activities to obtain reimbursement for health care and other services provided by state-operated facilities and community–based programs on behalf of the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services and 10 of its 17 health and human service agencies. The activities include billing and accounts receivable management, administrative claiming, benefit coordination, cost reporting, and payment rate development services, which together generate more than $1 billion annually for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Before joining UMass Chan Medical School, Bonaventura served as program manager for the Massachusetts Executive Office for Administration and Finance, for which she co-chaired and implemented various legislative and operational initiatives.
Bonaventura has more than 16 years of finance and operational management experience in the public and private sectors, as well as expertise in business development and process engineering, public administration, contract development and management, and development, implementation, and integration of new programs, services, and operations. Her professional affiliations include the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the National Association of Reimbursement Officers (NARO). She served as NARO’s president in 2010.
Bonaventura received a master’s degree in business administration from UMass Lowell, and a bachelor’s degree in international relations and Russian from Tufts University.
