Work Without Limits joins Partners for Youth with Disabilities mentor program for community college students with disabilities

UMass Medical School’s Work Without Limits, a statewide network dedicated to advancing the employment of people with disabilities, is linking with Partners for Youth with Disabilities (PYD) to offer e-mentoring to Massachusetts community college students with disabilities.

For Kathleen A. Petkauskos and Megan Northup, increasing the employment rate for people with disabilities isn’t just their job; it’s quite literally their lives, according to a 5 for Good segment on WCVB-TV. Northup is a woman with autism. Petkauskos is director of UMass Medical School’s Work Without Limits program. Together, they found mentoring success.

Megan Northup needs workplace supports to accommodate disabilities related to her autism, and she had no aspirations for career advancement. That didn’t stop her mentor, UMass Medical School disability employment leader Kathleen A. Petkauskos, from promoting her. Petkauskos’ faith inspired a grateful Northup to nominate her for the National Disability Mentoring Coalition’s Susan M. Daniels Disability Mentoring Hall of Fame.
