COLUMBUS, Ohio, and SHREWSBURY, Mass. — Commonwealth Medicine (CWM) and the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS) are pleased to announce a three-year agreement in which CWM will provide rehabilitative and review services for OPERS disability recipients.

CWM will work closely with participants in the OPERS Rehabilitative Services Program, which helps OPERS disability recipients return to wellness. Participants partner with a clinical nurse case manager to map out a recovery plan and receive vocational assistance to help with their self-directed job search.

On September 7, 2021, the University of Massachusetts announced a history-making $175 million donation from The Morningside Foundation to UMass Medical School.

The transformational gift is unrestricted and will more than double the Medical School’s endowment. It comes as the Medical School celebrates its 50th year of educating future physicians, nursing leaders and biomedical scientists and as its Nobel Prize-winning research enterprise has grown to $400 million.

Commonwealth Medicine (CWM) is pleased to welcome Catherine “Katie” Mick, MSW, MBA, as the new chief of staff under the direction of Executive Vice Chancellor Lisa M. Colombo, DNP, MHA, RN and in collaboration with Deputy Executive Vice Chancellor for Operations Patti Onorato, RN, MS, APN.

Mick joins CWM from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS), where she held vital roles in leadership, policy development, administration, and financial management over many years of service to the Secretariat, its agencies, and mission.

Commonwealth Medicine’s Clinical Pharmacy Services team took a “farm”acy trip to the Community Harvest Project in Grafton Massachusetts! 40 volunteers worked together to harvest over 3,000 pounds of fresh vegetables, equal to 18,830 individual servings of food, for individuals in need of a healthy and nutritious meal in Massachusetts.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons has renewed its contract with Commonwealth Medicine to manage comprehensive medical services for the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Devens in Massachusetts. This award includes the provision of services both onsite at FMC Devens and in the local community through Commonwealth Medicine’s extensive network of hospitals and specialists.

Worcester, Mass. –The Saint Vincent Hospital Vaccine Collaborative at Worcester State University, a collaboration with the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Commonwealth Medicine and the City of Worcester, will close on June 10, 2021,after administering over 83,000 COVID-19 vaccines in almost four months.

(Albany, N.Y.) – Capital Region, N.Y. native, and persons with disabilities activist, John Robinson, CEO of Our Ability, has recently made an agreement with the Commonwealth Medicine/University of Massachusetts Medical School’s Work Without Limits, based in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. The program encourages new businesses throughout New England to post their jobs on the newly launched Jobs Ability platform, and enable more individuals with disabilities interested in marketing their skills towards employment, to do so.

A large-scale vaccination site is now open on the campus of Worcester State University. Commonwealth Medicine, in partnership with Saint Vincent Hospital and Worcester State University, formally opened the site earlier this week with the aim of providing up to 2,000 vaccinations a day.
