This poster by Karen Clements, ScD, assistant professor, discusses factors affecting trends in prescribing direct-acting antivirals for the treatment of hepatitis C (HCV) for a multi-state Medicaid population. Findings reveal that the introduction of new medications and lifting of prior authorization restrictions led to an immediate increase in uptake followed by relatively flat monthly utilization. As a large percentage of the Medicaid HCV population remains untreated, planned provider interviews will provide an understanding of the barriers and facilitators of treatment for HCV. This poster was named best in its category and nominated for best poster at the Academy Health 2020 Annual Research Meeting.
