Did you know – incarcerated individuals are more than 120 times more likely to die from opioid overdose than Massachusetts citizens with no history of incarceration? Our experts shared preliminary results of the MassHealth Behavioral Health for Justice-involved Individuals Initiative, a sustainable model for connecting justice involved individuals with mental health and addiction needs to services and supports. They presented data at the recent 2021 Academic Consortium for Criminal Justice Health Conference and concluded that partnerships among health and justice entities play a key role in implementing successful interventions.
