Pharmacoeconomics/Pharmacoepidemiology Post-Doctoral Fellowship Program

This mentored two-year Pharmacoeconomics/Pharmacoepidemiology Post-Doctoral Fellowship program provides an excellent opportunity for the fellow to gain in-depth applied work experience that includes:

  • Perform pharmacoeconomic analyses to support Massachusetts Medicaid’s value-based approach to pharmaceutical contracting
  • Assist in health services and pharmacoepidemiologic research
  • Provide policy analysis and recommendations
  • Disseminate findings at professional conferences and in peer-reviewed journals
  • Assume a leadership role in managing projects and research studies

The fellow will train at Clinical Pharmacy Services, Commonwealth Medicine under the guidance of Mahsa Salsabili, PharmD, PhD (Pharmacoeconomics Specialist), and at the Department of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences under the direction of Matthew Alcusky, PharmD, PhD (Assistant Professor).

The fellow will support faculty and Clinical Pharmacy Services staff with projects, grant proposals, and research studies throughout the design, analysis, and/or dissemination phases. The fellow will focus primarily on Medicaid projects, research, and policy, but opportunities to join projects using other data sources (e.g., Medicare, Marketscan) may be available.

The expected start date of the fellowship is July 2023. To qualify for this position, the applicant must hold a PharmD or PhD before the start date. The ideal candidate has a background in pharmacoeconomics, pharmacoepidemiology, health services research, health informatics, and/or pharmacy (preferably managed care pharmacy). The salary is commensurate with the UMass Chan Medical School scale for a postdoctoral position.
