Managed Care Residency Program Philosophy and Standards

We are committed to providing you with a highly mentored experience in an environment conducive to learning.

Our Clinical Pharmacy Services team has a clear mission. We help health care organizations achieve positive patient outcomes and maximize the efficiency of drug utilization through innovative and effective consulting and service models. The expectations we have of our residents are aligned with this goal. Each resident contributes measurable efforts to ensure that we remain a national leader in clinical expertise as well as responsiveness to the needs of the public and our clients.

Academic emphasis

Our postgraduate residency program is affiliated with several area schools of pharmacy, which provide many opportunities to precept students, provide didactic classroom lectures, and serve as mentors to students.

Enriching experience

We take pride in our ability to offer you a well-rounded, real-world residency experience that puts you in direct contact with patients and other health care providers, with the structured educational support of clinical experts in the field.

Our highly qualified preceptors guide residents in an unmatched variety of experiences — exposure to drug policy development, clinical services marketing, administration, clinical initiative development, and hands-on clinical work.

After completing our residency program, you will have achieved a high level of proficiency in multiple areas of pharmacy practice — allowing you to pursue a variety of career paths and become a leader within the profession.

Program standards

Our PGY1 Managed Care Pharmacy Residency is one of the few programs accredited by both the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP). By meeting the training standards of these organizations, we provide an environment conducive to learning with individualized guidance to achieve professional competence in operational and clinical services in managed care pharmacy and in the delivery of patient-centered care.
